We’ve had a great (but hard-working!) couple of weeks transforming an entire garden. The original garden comprised of a two-tier patio and steps, as well as an uneven lawn area.

Issues with Original Garden

As with many gardens in Milton Keynes, the lawn and beds were clay-based with poor drainage, making it hard to maintain the grass and plants. Our first job was to level out the garden, removing the old clay and replacing it with over 40 tonnes of new topsoil!

Steps We Took to Transform Their Garden

Step 1:

The lawn area was made parallel to the new Indian Sandstone patio, with the steps being removed to create a family-friendly area for all to enjoy.

Step 2:

A sweeping pathway made with polished silver-blue oriental stone and edged with Indian sandstone was created to lead to another patio area, allowing the sun to be enjoyed throughout the day. A concrete base will allow for a summer house to be installed.

Step 3:

A rockery was built to surround a new pond area, which was safely covered to protect small children, and a new side path built. Reclaimed railway sleepers were used to create raised beds- perfect for deep-rooted shrubs and plants, and excellent for drainage.

Step 4:

Finally, the garden was finished with a newly laid turf.

We thoroughly enjoyed this project, and worked with the customer to create their dream garden!
